For a single room with a subfloor in good condition, many floating floors (click-lock LVP, laminate) can realistically be installed in a single day — this is the kind of job same-day installation is built around. Glue-down and nail-down installations, or anything requiring subfloor leveling, generally take longer since there’s dry time and prep built into the process.
Whole-home projects, or jobs involving multiple flooring types across several rooms, more commonly run several days to a couple of weeks, particularly if hardwood needs to acclimate to your home’s humidity before installation (often 48–72 hours) or if finishes need cure time before furniture goes back.
A longer quoted timeline isn’t automatically a red flag — it often just reflects the size or complexity of the job. It’s reasonable to ask your installer what specifically is driving the timeline for your project.
